Shootout for Soldiers

www.shootoutforsoldiers.com

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The 24 hour lacrosse event that benefits American Veterans
to be Held at Kasch Park

Seattle, Washington (April 30, 2018) - Shootout For Soldiers will make its first appearance in Seattle, Washington on August 18-19th at Kasch Park in Everett, WA. Being that the Pacific Northwest has a deep military presence, and with Washington State housing 12 military establishments, the atmosphere is perfect to raise awareness for our military.

One individual that shares our excitement is Jim Hunt, event organizer for SFS Seattle. Hunt, husband and father of three, serves on the board of directors for both the Woodinville Lacrosse Club and Woodinville High School Lacrosse team, both located in Woodinville, Washington. Hunt has a personal experience with the military, having a father, brother, nephew, and two cousins who are all either veterans or current active duty service members.

Hunt’s connection with Shootout For Soldiers began when his son, Dane, started playing lacrosse in 2015. In addition, Trish Baumann, Hunt’s cousin, introduced him to Paul Simonetti, an integral member in Shootout For Soldiers organization doing work on the East Coast. Finally, Woodinville High School Lacrosse Program Director and Head Coach Pete Crowley is an avid SFS participant, traveling home to New York for the Canandaigua event every year.

I hope that everyone that participates in Shootout For Soldiers Seattle gains a greater perspective of how we can serve those that have served and those who are still serving their country.”

-Jim Hunt, Event organizer for SFS Seattle

Hunt has chosen two veteran charities local to Seattle for this event in addition to the national ones. These charities are the Brigadoon Service Dogs and The Seattle Stand Down. to learn more about these charities, please visit the websites listed below.

Alex Bartoletti Awarded LW Science Award
by posted 06/22/2018

Celebrating amazing players

Alex Bartoletti is being honored by the science department because he captures everything we hope for from students at LW.  He has a serious talent for science that we’ve seen for four years.  Yes, he has earned “A”’s in all the challenging sciences courses he has taken at LW in biology chemistry and physics.  He earned a 5 on the AP chemistry test last year and has been a top student in AP physics this year.  But more importantly, Alex hits the perfect balance between making things fun for his peers while working ferociously hard on content.  It’s clear he cares as much about others being successful as he does about his own success in the classroom.  The bottom line: Alex makes it cool to learn science at LW and we’re going to miss him next year.

Commits to Dominican University Class of 2022

by Samuel Vog

The Dominican Lacrosse Program is very excited to announce Jensen Leewens (Lake Washington High School ’18, Washington) has Verbally Committed to continue his education and play lacrosse for Dominican University. Jensen is a very talented and strong midfielder who will bring a lot to the Penguins as we finish up our talented 2022 class. During his junior season Jensen helped lead his team with a stat line of 18 Goals, 5 Assists, and 28 Ground Balls. Jensen hopes to lead his team to another playoff berth in his senior season. Coach Sammy stated “We are very excited to have a talented, physical, and smart midfielder in Jensen Leewens to join the Penguins for the 2018-2019 season. He has been an integral part of growing the lacrosse program for Lake Washington. He is physical, strong, has a great shot, and a knack for finding the back of the net. We feel he will fit right in to our offensive systems and to the culture of the team.”  Welcome to the Penguins, Jensen! Please stay tuned for Jensen National Signing Day!
